Ashkon Haidari

Self taught, b.1991

As Picasso said, “Painting is another way of keeping a diary.”

My artwork, as much as it is my blood sweat and tears, is also a mystery to me.

It is the mirror that reflects my state of being; It is the narrator of my experience.

The paintings in this show are one body of work, yet, from two different places.

One body of work is born from the accumulative emotions and colors of my day to day life.

And one body of work, from an ancient breeze, and born of my Iranian blood.

Both hit a cord deep in my heart,

Yet the worlds remain unbridged.
It is a back and forth,
A bird flying under different lights.

These paintings seem to tell me that for now, I carry these mysterious worlds separate, one under my arm, and one like a pendent, hidden, close to my heart.
